The community is invited to join John Tyler Community College’s faculty, staff and students as they honor past and present members of the armed services during the College’s annual Veterans Day Ceremony on November 12. The ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Nicholas Student Center at the College’s Chester Campus.
Retired Brigadier General Charles F. Brower, IV, the deputy superintendent for academics and dean of faculty at Virginia Military Institute, will deliver the keynote address. During his career in the Army, Brigadier General Brower served in Germany and Vietnam and with the 101st Airborne Division and 24th Infantry Division (Mechanized) in the United States. In the 1980s, he served as the Army Aide to President Ronald Reagan. He has received numerous awards, including the Distinguished Service Medal, the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Bronze Star Medal for Valor, and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Gold Star.
In addition to Brigadier General Brower’s address, faculty, staff and student veterans also will be recognized. They, along with all those in attendance, will be invited to participate in a memorial tree planting.
