Information Technology Scholarships

Aqualon Hercules Endowed Scholarship
(Scholarship ID Number 6012)

The Aqualon Hercules Endowed Scholarship is designed to assist Hercules employees or their dependents in pursuing an education at John Tyler Community College. The scholarship will be used toward the cost of tuition, books and fees.

Eligibility criteria include:

  • Completion of a scholarship application.
  • Must maintain at least a 2.8 grade point average (GPA) while enrolled, or for incoming freshman, must have graduated from high school with at least a 2.8 GPA.
  • May be enrolled as either a full-time or part-time student at John Tyler Community College.
  • Must be enrolled in one of the following: Accounting (AAS), Accounting (CSC), Business Administration (AS), Business Information Management (CSC), Business Management (AAS), Small Business Management (CSC), Welding (C), Welding (CSC), Cisco Network (CSC), Computer Applications (CSC), Information Systems (AS), Information Technology (AAS), Information Technology – Cisco Network Track (AAS), Information Technology – Computer Applications Track (AAS), Information Technology – Network Support Track (AAS), Information Technology – Program Development Track (AAS), Network Support (CSC), Program Development (CSC), Web Design (CSC), Electricity (CSC), Heating and Air Conditioning (CSC), Industrial Electricity (CSC), Residential Electricity (CSC), Technical Studies (AAS), Technical Studies – Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Track (AAS), Technical Studies – Industrial Electricity Track (AAS), Technical Studies – Mechanical Maintenance Track (AAS), Technical Studies – Precision Machining Technology Track (AAS), Technical Studies – Residential Electricity Track (AAS), Technical Studies – Welding (AAS), Architectural Engineering Technology (AAS), Engineering (AS), Mechanical Engineering Technology (AAS), Mechanical Engineering Technology – Mechantronics Technician Specialization (AAS), Mechanical Maintenance (CSC), Applied Technology (CSC).
  • Preference will be given to Hercules employees or their dependents.

Chesterfield County Scholarship
(Scholarship ID Number 2084)

The Chesterfield County Scholarships were established to help John Tyler Community College students, who live in Chesterfield County, with the cost of tuition, books and fees.

Eligibility criteria include:

  • Completion of a scholarship application.
  • Must maintain a 3.2 grade point average (GPA) while enrolled, or for incoming freshman, must have graduated from high school with at least a 3.2 GPA.
  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student at John Tyler Community College.
  • Preference will be given to students majoring in the following programs: Police Science (AAS), Early Childhood Development (AAS), Early Childhood Development – Teacher Assistant Specialization (AAS), Transfer Degree (AS, AA), or EMT’s returning for a Nursing (AAS) degree.
  • Must live in Chesterfield County.

Circuit City Information Systems Technology Scholarship
(Scholarship ID Number 2030)

The Circuit City Scholarship was developed by the Circuit City Foundation to assist a student enrolled in Information Systems Technology at John Tyler Community College with the cost of tuition, books and fees.

Eligibility criteria include:

  • Completion of a scholarship application.
  • Must maintain at least a 2.5 grade point average (GPA) while enrolled, or for incoming freshman, must have graduated from high school with at least a 2.5 GPA.
  • May be enrolled as either a full-time or part-time student at John Tyler Community College.
  • Must be enrolled in one of the following programs: Information Technology (AAS), Information Technology – Cisco Network Track (AAS), Information Technology – Computer Applications Track (AAS), Information Technology – Program Development Track (AAS).
  • Must demonstrate some financial need.

DuPont Polyester Endowed Scholarship
(Scholarship ID Number 6017)

The DuPont Endowed Scholarship is designed to assist a student, pursuing an education at John Tyler Community College, with tuition, books and fees.

The following criteria must be met:

  • Complete a scholarship application.
  • Must maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average (GPA) while enrolled, or for incoming freshman, have graduated from high school with at least a 3.0 GPA.
  • May be enrolled either as a full or part-time student at John Tyler Community College.
  • Must be enrolled in one of the following programs: Business Administration (AS), Engineering (AS), General Studies (AS), General Studies – Psychology Specialization (AS), General Studies – Teacher Education Specialization (AS), Information Systems (AS), Accounting (AAS), Architectural Engineering Technology (AAS), Business Management (AAS), Information Technology (AAS), Information Technology – Cisco Network Track (AAS), Information Technology – Computer Applications Track (AAS), Information Technology – Network Support Track (AAS), Information Technology – Program Development Track (AAS), Mechanical Engineering Technology (AAS), Mechanical Engineering Technology – Mechatronics Technician Specialization (AAS), Nursing (AAS).Must demonstrate some financial need.

Edwin D. Jordan Memorial Endowed Scholarship
(Scholarship ID Number 6025)

The Edwin D. Jordan Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established in July 2003 by his wife, Nicole M. Jordan, in memory of Mr. Jordan. Mr. Jordan was a mathematics professor and original member of the John Tyler Community College faculty, serving for 36 years until his passing in June 2003.

The Edwin D. Jordan Memorial Scholarship is established to assist John Tyler Community College students, enrolled in a transfer degree program, with tuition, books and fees.

Eligibility criteria include:

  • Completion of a scholarship application.
  • Must maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average (GPA) while enrolled, or for incoming freshman, must have graduated from high school with at least a 3.0 GPA.
  • May be enrolled as a full-time or part-time student at John Tyler Community College.
  • Must be enrolled in a transfer degree program (AA, AS).
  • Must have plans to transfer to a four-year college or university.
  • Must need no more than 20 credit hours to complete a degree.

Philip Morris Career & Technical Scholarship
(Scholarship ID Number 6031)

The Philip Morris Career & Technical Scholarship is designed to assist a student, enrolled in a technical program at John Tyler Community College, with tuition, books and fees.

Eligibility criteria include:

  • Completion of a scholarship application.
  • Must maintain at least a 2.8 grade point average (GPA) while enrolled, or for incoming freshman, must have graduated from high school with at least a 2.8 GPA.
  • May be enrolled as either a full-time or part-time student at John Tyler Community College.

Preston and Ann Leake Endowed Scholarship
(Scholarship ID Number 6034-002)

The Preston H. and Ann K. Leake Endowed Scholarship is established to assist students enrolled in any arts and science for transfer degree (except speech and theatre).  The purpose of the scholarship is to assist students who wish to transfer to four-year institutions and is available regardless of national test scores.  The scholarship will assist a John Tyler Community College student with tuition, books and fees.

The following criteria must be met:

  • Must complete a scholarship application.
  • Must maintain at least a 2.8 grade point average (GPA) while enrolled, or for incoming freshman, have graduated from high school with at least a 2.8 GPA.
  • May be enrolled either as a full or part-time student at John Tyler Community College.
  • Preference will be given first to a student enrolled in a transfer degree program (AS or AA, except Liberal Arts – Theatre Arts Specialization).
  • Must demonstrate some financial need.

William H. Talley, III Endowed Scholarship
(Scholarship ID Number 6023)

The William H. Talley, III Endowed Scholarship is established to assist John Tyler Community College students to learn a marketable skill, preferably in business or computer sciences. The scholarship is designed to assist a student enrolled at John Tyler Community College with tuition, books and fees.

Eligibility criteria include:

  • Completion of a scholarship application.
  • Must maintain at least a 2.8 grade point average (GPA) while enrolled, or for incoming freshman, must have graduated from high school with at least a 2.8 GPA.
  • May be enrolled as either a full-time or part-time student at John Tyler Community College.
  • Preference will be given to students enrolled in one of the following programs: Business Administration (AS), Information Systems (AS), Business Management (AAS), Information Technology (AAS), Information Technology – Cisco Network Track (AAS), Information Technology – Computer Applications Track (AAS), Information Technology – Network Support Track (AAS), Information Technology – Program Development Track (AAS), Business Information Management (CSC), Cisco Network (CSC), Web Design (CSC).
  • Must demonstrate some financial need.
  • Preference shall be given to the residents of the Cities of Petersburg, Colonial Heights, Hopewell, the Counties of Dinwiddie, Prince George and those students that graduated from Matoaca High School in Chesterfield County, Virginia.
