  • Greece Trip
    2014 Summer Study
Ancient Greece: In the Footsteps of Gods and Heroes June 24 – July 11, 2014

Since 2000, faculty members at John Tyler have been leading study abroad programs to Greece. This summer’s program will be an academic program, and all participants will be required to enroll in one or more program classes, but there will be plenty of time to experience the people and culture of ancient and modern Greece and time for shopping and leisure activities. Our intention is that participants are not tourists, but informed travelers who will have a deeper appreciation of the history and culture of Greece through study and discussion before and during the trip. All program classes will have assignments designed to focus the student’s attention on key themes and to provide a better understanding of the sites we will visit and how they contribute to that understanding. Courses offered are: HIS 243 – The Ancient World, PHI 295 – Greek Philosophy, and ENG 257 – Mythology.
