The Foundation Art Award is an annual competition sponsored by the John Tyler Community College Foundation to showcase the artistic abilities of Tyler’s students.

The 2022 Foundation Art Award Competition is now open for submissions until November 1, 2021. Each entrant may submit up to three pieces for consideration. Paintings, drawings, photographs, sculpture, ceramics and graphic design entries are welcomed and encouraged. Other media and purely digital works can be considered provided there is a suitable way to display the work for the finalist exhibition as well as the poster.

Submit Your Artwork

This contest occurs in two stages. First, several finalists will be selected from the digital submissions by a panel of judges. Then, the finalists will be invited to participate in an on-campus exhibition. From these exhibited works the John Tyler Community College Foundation Board will select the 2022 Foundation Art Award winner.

The winner and all finalists will be invited to attend the Tyler Student Awards Night in the spring, where they will be publicly recognized.

“As an artist, it can be difficult to determine if your paintings are valid, that they ‘work.' Having this painting be viewed by a variety of artists and chosen helps me to increase my confidence, to continue to be bold, and take chances in my painting.”
