Important Announcements - JTCC’s Admissions and Records Office, Advising Center, Business Office, and Financial Aid Office at both campuses will be open until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 23 and Thursday, August 24 to help students during the first week of the fall semester. JTCC’s Chester Testing Center will be closed on Friday, August 25 and Saturday, August 26. The Midlothian Testing Center will be open on those dates. More.

U.S. Senator Mark Warner to Speak at John Tyler Community College Commencement

CHESTER and MIDLOTHIAN, Va. – John Tyler Community College will hold its 43rd annual commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. The ceremony will take place at the College’s Midlothian Campus, located at 800 Charter Colony Parkway. The graduating class will be approximately 890 strong.

The commencement address will be delivered by U.S. Senator Mark Warner. Warner was elected to the U.S. Senate in November 2008. He serves on the Senate’s Banking, Budget, Commerce and Rules committees. From 2002 – 2006, Warner served as Governor of Virginia. Before becoming an elected official, Warner was an early leader in the cellular telephone industry, cofounding the company that eventually became Nextel. He holds an undergraduate degree from The George Washington University and a law degree from Harvard.

John Tyler Community College is a two-year, public institution of higher education and is the fifth largest of the 23 community colleges in Virginia. With campuses in Chester and Midlothian and off-campus classrooms throughout the area, John Tyler offers quality and economical opportunities for students who want to earn a degree or certificate, transfer to a four-year college or university, train for the workforce, or switch careers. The College, which served more than 13,690 students during the 2009 – 10 academic year, offers 17 associate degrees, seven certificates and 35 career studies certificates. The institution also serves 20,000 non-credit students and more than 1,000 companies and government agencies annually through the Community College Workforce Alliance. The College also is committed to sustainability. In July 2010, it received a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver Certification for its Midlothian Campus Science Building, becoming the first in the Virginia Community College System to receive such recognition. John Tyler Community College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
