GENERAL INFORMATION:  John Tyler Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education and one of the largest of the 23 community colleges in Virginia.  With campuses in Chester and Midlothian in the metropolitan Richmond area and at off-campus classrooms throughout the area, John Tyler Community College provides quality educational opportunities that inspire student success and community vitality. RESPONSIBILITIES:  Provide Distance Education, Placement Testing and other tests to students for the various programs of study at John Tyler Community College; monitor email and communications; provide testing assistance for students with disabilities. Positions are limited to working up to 29 hours a week and may vary throughout the year. Incumbents may be required to work week-day hours, two evenings a week, and Saturdays. 

QUALIFICATIONS:  High School diploma or equivalent required. College degree preferred. Experience working with students in a higher education environment. Knowledge of on-line testing and Blackboard procedures, and use of Microsoft Office applications strongly preferred. Must have excellent communication skills, computer and customer service skills; be able to work in a fast paced, diverse, and occasionally stressful environment. Applicants must also have the ability to work a flexible schedule at either the Chester or Midlothian campuses and accept related duties as assigned in a relatively unsupervised capacity. Successful completion and passing of a background check is required for employment.

Preferred Qualifications: College degree preferred. Experience working with students in a higher education environment. Knowledge of online testing and LMS procedures, and use of Microsoft Office applications strongly preferred.
