Welcome back, Trailblazers!

Last year, the Library introduced new services and adapted our old standards to meet new challenges.

Here’s how you can interact with the Library this Spring 2021 semester…even when on-campus services are closed:

Digital Collection: our e-books and audiobooks are always available. Try searching the JTCC Catalog first, then narrow your results to Full-Text Online.

Of course, we have databases with expanded material on specific subjects, like GALE Interactive: Human Anatomy for anatomy students, Grove Music Online for music students, and Tumble Books Library for early childhood education students.

Library Chat: available 24/7! Ask JTCC Library Staff and our partner librarians questions about research, book loans, and more.

JTCC Library Staff answers questions live during regular operating hours

  • Monday – Thursday 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
  • Friday 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

**New this semester**: Text the Library at 1-804-331-9444

You can now text the Library during regular operation hours (see above) with questions. Standard carrier messaging rates apply.

Virtual Workshops: Attend workshops on Zoom about research and citation questions, like: How do I start research? What is citation and how do I do it? Why can’t I use Wikipedia as my main source for everything? Our engaging, professional staff will guide you through learning the basics of these essential college skills!

One-on-One Research HelpHaving trouble with your paper? You can request one-on-one virtual help from the JTCC Library.

Technology LoansThe Library owns a limited number of laptops, webcams, Chromebooks, and (new this semester) a small number of Internet hotspots. The demand for this limited number of equipment is extremely high, so we are accepting waitlist requests through this form.

**If you borrowed technology in the Fall, please return it as follows:

  • Nicholas Student Center lobby (Chester) or Admin Building lobby (Midlothian)
  • Monday-Saturday 8AM-5PM (expanded hours coming soon)
  • Wear a mask to enter the building
  • Put the tech in the “Return Library Tech” box and put your name on the Sign-in Sheet

If you are in need of computer access before the waitlist can be accommodated, please visit the following locations on each campus for access to open computer labs available for students in need on Monday-Thursday from 7:45 a.m. – 9:30 p.m. and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.:

  • Moyar Hall, M211 (Chester)
  • Hamel Hall, H204 (Midlothian)

Classroom space for those with devices, but lacking internet access:

  • Moyar Hall, M203 & M209 (Chester)
  • Hamel Hall, H112, Eliades Hall, E113, & T-Building, T202 (Midlothian)
