Wednesday, Aug. 12th: "Is boring art just boring?" -- Conversation club invites students, faculty and staff to join in various topics on several Wednesdays throughout the month at 3pm. This week's session will entail the following: Have you ever seen a piece of art and felt lost? Felt like you didn't "get it?" I know I have. Without knowing the full context, or even with knowing that information sometimes, art is a complicated beast. This article highlights the disparities within the art community on the meaning of art, the meaning of reactions to art, and the meaning of how other people react to criticism of art. It's a tad dry, but it's short, and it can lead to a great discussion on the subjective nature of art and the meanings we place on it. To access the article, click here. You'll need to log in using your myTyler credentials. Once you're logged in, accept the terms and conditions; then you can Download PDF. Zoom link for the virtual event will be available soon.
