Tyler offers students a variety of technology tools and resources to assist you with your education.
Open Computer Spaces and Labs
While the majority of Tyler classes are offered online, both campuses have computer spaces and laabs available for students who need to use WiFi with their own device, use a computer, participate in a Zoom class, get general computer help, or take a test using Respondus. Hours vary, so check the schedule below before coming to campus, and be prepared to follow Tyler's safety protocols when you arrive. We suggest you bring headphones or earbuds so all lab users will be able to focus on their work.
myTyler allows you to access Canvas, the Student Information System, College email and other key resources from one location, using one login.
Locating Your Username and Password
Your username is immediately provided to you once you have submitted your admissions application online. We recommend that new students print out their username and store in a safe place.
If you need to look up your username, you can use our username lookup tool. Please note, however, that the information you provide must match exactly what you used when you completed your admissions application. This includes using your full name or nickname as appropriate to match your application. The system is also sensitive to spaces in names and hyphenated names.

Students use one password for all of their accounts at the College managed through myTyler: the Student Information System, Canvas and VCCS student e-mail. If you are a new student you are provided with a temporary password when you submit your admissions application. If you are not provided with a temporary password you can still retrieve your password. The first time you log in, you will be prompted to change your password immediately for security purposes. The system will direct you to change your password and select a security question. You will need to complete this process and set your password before you can access your accounts.
Navigate Student is a free online tool and mobile app that acts as your personal guide to Tyler.
Tyler Alert is one of the many notification tools that the College will use to alert students, faculty and staff of an emergency situation and of closings and delays due to inclement weather.
Canvas Learning Management System
Canvas is the learning platform Tyler students will use to access their coursework and assignments digitally. In addition to logging in to Canvas through myTyler, you can download a mobile app for your smartphone or tablet.
Canvas features include:
Receiving notifications when your teacher updates the course.
A calendar that helps you stay organized by displaying assignments and due dates across all courses.
Simplified collaboration:you can engage in group work, share documents, and host discussions.
Grades: you can view your grade percentage throughout the term.
Tutorials and Support
Zoom is the web-based audio and video conferencing platform that Tyler uses for many of its courses. You can access Zoom after logging into myTyler.
Ask-a-Librarian is a text-based chat service with video conferencing and screenshare options. Ask-A-Librarian is staffed 24/7.

Academic Resource Center (tutoring help)
Tutorials and Resources
Beyond unlimited online tutoring available through the ARC, you also have access to 5 hours of tutoring per semester through BrainFuse. You can access Brainfuse by logging into Canvas and selecting the app within your specific courses.
Tyler’s Testing Center is available for limited in person testing for those that have technology issues at home or for specific tests like CLEP.
Respondus is the online platform that is used for testing from home.
Financial Aid and Student Accounts
Tyler offers a 24/7 Financial Aid and Student Account Support Center or 1-855-874-6684 for students to receive assistance with their financial aid and student accounts.
Microsoft Office Software Downloads
Tyler students are able to download a free copy of Microsoft Office for educational use.
Students may access Tyler’s Wi-Fi from the library and computer labs during open hours and campus parking lots.
The JTCC-Public network is available for basic web browsing.
Students can use the JTCC-Student network with their myTyler username and password and the passphrase: GoTyler1967
