Longwood Jazz Ensemble

LU Jazz Ensemble at John Tyler Community College, Thursday, October 5


On Thursday, October 5, at 7:00 p.m. the Longwood University Jazz Ensemble will present a concert in the Lynn Theater at John Tyler Community College in Midlothian. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.


The LU Jazz Ensemble, in its twenty-fifth year under the direction of Dr. Charles Kinzer, will perform music associated with Buddy Rich, Louis Prima, Miles Davis, and Earth, Wind, and Fire, among others.


The jazz ensemble is a traditional jazz big band, with five saxophones, four trombones, four trumpets, and four-piece rhythm section. Student soloists include Joel Worford, a senior guitarist from Midlothian, Cody Hinson, a sophomore trumpeter from Powhatan, and Nate Irving, a senior drummer from Manchester.
