Longwood Jazz Returns to the Lynn Theatre!
LU Jazz Ensemble at John Tyler Community College, Tuesday, September 25
On Tuesday, September 25, at 7:00 p.m. the Longwood University Jazz Ensemble will present a concert in the Lynn Theater at John Tyler Community College in Midlothian. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.
The LU Jazz Ensemble, in its twenty-sixth year under the direction of Dr. Charles Kinzer, will perform music associated with Ray Charles, Dave Brubeck, Duke Ellington, and Blood, Sweat, & Tears, among others.
The jazz ensemble is a traditional jazz big band, with five saxophones, four trombones, four trumpets, and four-piece rhythm section. Student soloists include Jordan Smith, a senior trombonist from Norfolk, Cody Hinson, a sophomore trumpeter from Powhatan, and Micheal Norwood, a senior bassist from Chester.
